Top 10 Surprises of the 2011/2012 Season

It's almost January 1st, so I am jumping on the Top 10 bandwagon!! This will be a welcome distraction from the language debate that has once again gripped our city. I will try not to be 100% Habs-Centric, but don't be surprised if 5 of the 10 focus on the Habs.

Playoff Predictions Round 1

Some of you may know me for my uncanny ability to pick teams and/or players for fantasy hockey. I can't win a door prize for the life of me, but for some reason, even my most random picks often come true – lest we forget the big Bob Gainey win of 2010. Here is my contribtion to hopeful gamblers everywhere.

My Day as a Hab: A Photo Essay

Last Spring I took part in the Bob Gainey Foundation Playoff Pool and thanks to a good start by the Sharks and Pronger, my team won the whole thing. The prize? Ice time at the Bell Centre! As some of you may know, this is my first year playing REAL fantasy hockey. I'm in two leagues, one of which I am winning, one of which I am badly losing. The disparity in the results is what inspired me to write this post.

First Time Fantasy

I had drunk one too many aperitifs and was on my third glass of wine. Not exactly how I pictured my first time – picking players for an NHL Fantasy Draft that is. I signed up through my favorite Habs website, Habsinsideout, and though have I participated in many hockey pools, this was my first time venturing into the realm of Fantasy sports. My track record with hockey pools has been pretty good – last spring I won the Gainey Foundation Playoff pool, and I generally finish in the top three in my office pools (save for that one season when I seemed to be a defensive curse, and all my defense picks ended up on the IR).
