Morning After: What’s Class at a Hockey Game?

Today's topic: Class at a hockey game. When Zdeno Chara took a puck to the face in the last seconds of the first period, there was some cheering from the stands. Twitter exploded. The words "class" and "classless" were thrown around, and once again, I felt like the journalists from up above were scolding a fan base.

Morning After: I liked the Shootout? (and Brian Burke)

Confession: I REALLY enjoyed that shootout last night! I am semi-ashamed to admit it, only because I am like a grumpy old man when it comes to this nouveau aspect of the game. But eight rounds in and my nail-biting habit was in FULL force. I liked that Louie LeBlanc got a chance in to shoot in front of the home crowd (even if he didn't get a shot off), I like that Carey *finally got a shootout win, but I don't like that the Habs lost two leads last night. When you go into OT because you scored an equalizer, any extra point is gravy. But when when you go into extra time because you are the team that couldn't close the deal, it's disappointing that you gave your opponents a point.

Morning After: Humiliated

I am humiliated. Last night's game was embarrassing to watch. A SIX MINUTE POWER PLAY! But I don't want to harp on a game that was tedious to watch. I think the only reason I kept it on the television was because I don't know what else to watch. Suggestions? Are there sitcoms any more? If so, what's good? What I do want to talk about is Pierre Gauthier and how fearful we should be that he is the one in charge right now.

Morning after: That was FUN!

It was the first win I got to see live this season, and it was the first time all season I remember actually having fun. The Bell Centre was loud. Hell, the "wave" even happened. The Wave! I didn't even know people did the wave anymore.

Morning After: Oh ya…the preseason is over!

A photo that says it all. Habs vs Leafs season opener was a blah-fest. I was bored, you were bored, hell, even the Habs were bored.

Game 7: The Good and the Annoying

Game 7: The Good and the Annoying

I woke up this morning to my spouse asking me if the Habs had won – it was a terrible way to wake up. I explained to her that no, the Habs had lost in OT, but it was a valiant effort. "That's too bad" she said. But I knew in her heart she was a tad happy – it meant I was back. As she left for work, I lied in bed reflecting on the game and have come up with two lists. The first is the bright side of what happened, the 2nd list is the annoying stuff that will now follow.

Morning After – Caps vs Gionta (and what happened to Copa!?)

Great win after what seemed like the longest All-Star break EVER! I am not a fan of the All-Star game, barely watched the skills competition and only made through 15 minutes of the actual game, so it was a long week for me without hockey. A lot of good things last night, and some really terrible things as well. Firstly, when Price let in that softie 2:00 into the first, I thought to myself: "Oh great...welcome to a repeat of the 2nd half of the Centennial season". Apparently I panic easily. Thankfully, Price was very strong for the rest of the game and the Habs prooved yet again that they are mentally extremely strong! Now..onto the bad.

Morning After: The Wounded (aka the game in Buffalo)

I do hate to brag, but I believe in my post yesterday I predicted a 1-1 game that would be sent into overtime. I'm like some kind of gifted hockey-savant, I should start betting money on games, I could become a millionaire (except for the fact that I actually predicted the Habs would win, and my savant abilities don't seem to foresee the plethora of injuries the befell our team last night). As with all fans, the highlight for me last night was the PK Subban and Price love taps in the middle of a play. I'm a sucker for a good bromance, and I think the CPPK love affair is developing in to one of the best bromance story-lines of the season.

Habs lost 2-5, in what should have been a 2-1 win had they not been paraded to the box by referees who only seemed to see Habs infractions. Then again, the number one PK in the league looked only like a shadow of it's self allowing FOUR powerplay goals.

Morning After: Word to your Mother…

Carey Price, aka C-Diddy, aka C-Pri$zz really inspired me last night. In a sport that too often lacks personality, Price inserted some early 90s b-boy love into his game, and since then I can't get Vanilla Ice out of my head. Man, I really loved 90s white-boy rap, The Beastie Boys' Paul Revere is still my favorite song, and if you get me drunk enough I could do the whole thing for you. Anyhow, this little bit here is dedicated to C-Love

Morning After: Caps

Happy Holidays! It's been awhile since I've posted, my apologies. I was all over the place, and am finally back in town and settled down. I came home last night to the wonderful news of the Habs adding James Wisniewski to their blue line for the price of a 2nd round pick in 2011 (and a conditional 5th in 2012). I won't beat around the bush -- I LOVE THIS.

Morning After – Oilers

Morning After – Oilers

There were two massive breakdowns at about the 10 minute mark of the third period last night, 1-it started snowing, so I lost my signal for the game. and 2-The Montreal Canadiens.... As my friend relayed to me on Twitter, the timeline of both failures was very interesting. Maybe it was a higher power trying to shield my rose coloured Habs glasses from the worst breakdown of the season, but whatever it was, I am secretly thankful I not only missed the Habs blowing a two-goal lead in the third, I also missed one of my favorite players deciding he didn't want to play hockey anymore, and letting Dustin Penner skate away for the OT Goal. I am of course talking about Mike Cammalleri.
