As some of you may know, this is my first year playing REAL fantasy hockey. I'm in two leagues, one of which I am winning, one of which I am badly losing. The disparity in the results is what inspired me to write this post.

I had drunk one too many aperitifs and was on my third glass of wine. Not exactly how I pictured my first time – picking players for an NHL Fantasy Draft that is. I signed up through my favorite Habs website, Habsinsideout, and though have I participated in many hockey pools, this was my first time venturing into the realm of Fantasy sports. My track record with hockey pools has been pretty good – last spring I won the Gainey Foundation Playoff pool, and I generally finish in the top three in my office pools (save for that one season when I seemed to be a defensive curse, and all my defense picks ended up on the IR).
