Eight games left in the season... I feel that now is a good time to look back at my season's predictions and laugh about how little I actually know. This is a humbling exercise because I think I got maybe 1 or 2 right.

Sometimes something from above interferes and delivers a miracle. With the Habs up 4-1, losing the lead (again) and heading to shootout, I honestly believed that if Devin Setoguchi had not somehow tripped, he would have scored and the 4th round would not have gone in the Habs favour. It was a hockey miracle.
Last night a fellow Habs fan on Twitter mentioned that this is the worst season for the Habs. I disagreed, I said the Centennial season was worse. In truth, both are terrible so let's compare and contrast to come up with the truly worst season of the Habs. Though to be fair, this season isn't over yet – things might totally change between now and April, in which case I will just delete this post :) I've broken down the post into categories; expectations, offseason, regular season moves, on-ice drama, off-ice drama. For each category I chose a "winner" for the worst season. My conclusion ties it all together. Been a long time since I've written a post...an awkward amount of time actually. My excuses are feeble and few. In the summer I focus on tennis and softball and not on writing a blog. Then before I knew it training camp was over and the Habs are playing their first game tomorrow! What will my first post be? How about some season predictions, if only because I like to look back at the end of the year and see how many I got wrong. First though, a little side-blog plug. This season I'll also be writing for a new Habs blog called the Montreal Bias. I'll try and not be repetitive in my posts on this blog and that blog.
I read a Gazette article this morning by Brendan Kelly on the Bell TV Series, Nos Canadiens. The article itself made me reflect on the mere two episodes I have watched, and not really enjoyed. Firstly, as a Bell Subscriber there was the drama of trying to actually watch the show when it was airing exclusively for Bell customers –you may remember my rant from way back in December.
Carey Price, aka C-Diddy, aka C-Pri$zz really inspired me last night. In a sport that too often lacks personality, Price inserted some early 90s b-boy love into his game, and since then I can't get Vanilla Ice out of my head. Man, I really loved 90s white-boy rap, The Beastie Boys' Paul Revere is still my favorite song, and if you get me drunk enough I could do the whole thing for you. Anyhow, this little bit here is dedicated to C-Love

Well…wasn’t that a debbie downer of a game. SO much promise for about 58 minutes, and then BAM! it all comes tumbling down… Here are my ten points, on what was a really exciting but really disappointing home opener. Gionta’s player introductions really was special. I love how the Habs marketing department are all over the Captain’s french lessons. I am sure LaPierre had a good laugh over being call LaPierrere All joking aside though, that took some courage. Speaking a language you barely know in front of over 20,000 people is no easy task. Well done Captain! Ryan, Ryan, Ryan…. why oh why do you have to get a delay of game penalty EVERY SINGLE TIME! Powerplay? What powerplay? Half the opportunities were cut short because neither Cammalleri nor Subban can keep their emotions in check, and the other half of the powerplays were once again fruitless. At...
*Disclaimer: I don't boo the home team and I don't boo home-team players. BUT, I thought I would take this opportunity to maybe explore the act of booing, and to some end, justify it's presence it professional sports. I am playing devils advocate here because my feelings are strong in the matter of what it means to be a fan, spectator, and consumer of entertainment. Feel free to disagree, or even boo my article...that's the whole point!
Allen McInnis of the "Montreal Gazette" caught some great footage of the Habs at their annual golf tournament yesterday. Josh Gorges has great form :)
I agree with Damian Cox in his futility assessment concerning rookie camps. So while there are a plethora of rookie camp story lines I could take up and write about, I want to instead look to the future and make my 2010/2011 season predictions. The first of which is that 9 out of 10 won't happen and my credibility as a forecaster will be lower than Pierre McGuire's (remember his man-love affair with Komisarek and how he's take the Leafs to the promised land). So without further ado...my predictions
It really was only a matter of time before I started this blog. And really, the only thing stopping me was the fact that the world really truly didn't need yet ANOTHER hockey blog, yet alone a Habs blog. The decision came down to two things: 1- When the CBC calls me, I want to something to promote. I never get to promote anything, all the other regular "fan experts" are all over self-promotion, it's time I get on the bandwagon! 2- I have a lot to say on the matter and my wife is tired of hearing it. A lot has happened over the summer, and with Training Camp around the corner, this is the perfect time to start blogging. Let me just start by re-capping my thoughts on a few important topics.
